As the saying goes – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Your house may be overflowing with what you consider clutter, but you never know how it could be repurposed as a positive for someone else.

We’ve put together a list of some of the amazing organisations that do just that. If you have quality products that would otherwise end up at the tip, then these organisations will take them off your hands and redistribute them to those who need them the most.

Bras – The Uplift Project

The Uplift Project is a fantastic program that helps women in communities where a bra would otherwise be unobtainable get access to the products they need. If you have good quality bras to donate, you can post them or drop them off to one of the sites listed on their website.

General Household Items and Furniture – Vinnies

Who doesn’t love a shop at Vinnies? If you have any quality household items lying around that would make a second hand shopper’s day, you can organise a pick-up or drop them off to your local Vinnies store. FYI – electrical items, used pillows or stained mattresses are not accepted.

Phone: (02) 9568 0262

Makeup – The Beauty Bank

We all have those beauty products lying around that we know we’ll never use but don’t really want to throw away. The Beauty Bank is the perfect solution. They’re all about offering the simple luxuries to people who usually have to go without. From shampoo to razors, body products or makeup, the little things in life can make a huge difference. You can contact them for drop-off points (based in Sutherland, NSW).

Items For Mum and Bubs – Mummies Paying it Forward

Yummy mummies helping each other out! This organisation is a well-oiled machine. If you have baby items that are new or hardly used, the team at Mummies Paying It Forward will find them a home where they will make the most impact. You can check out their website for items they accept at their several drop-off points around Sydney.

Work Wear – Wear for Success

Preparing for a job interview is always stressful, but even more so when you can’t afford anything appropriate to wear. If you have any outfits that would help someone have the confidence to take a step up in the world, you can find details on donation on the Wear for Success website below.

Phone: (03) 9078 1750

Remember – if you have poor quality items or waste, please contact your local council instead to have the rubbish removed.
